May is a beautiful month for you to get out and learn some new things with your pets!

Go Someplace Fun!

dogbar.jpgA great resource is the BringFido World Dog Events calendar! You can search any particular city you want and surrounding cities to see what fun events you can bring your pet to. Many cities have dog dag festivals, events and educational classes. These events not only strengthen a community’s doggy awareness, but also help small business in your area! So search away and find something new for you and your pet!

Start Something New!

dogcart.jpgThere are so many options for pet owners when it comes to new events or activities to compete in. Many can be done with just the right resources and some time spent outside! You can start training to “cart”. An activity where you train your pet to pull a cart or carriage and perform different moves! This activity not only gets you outdoors, but also helps your pets need to work! There are a number of other things you can try your paw at including, flyball, dock diving, therapy training, sledding and weight pulling! A quick search of the internet can give you some great insight, but to get you started AGA recommends visiting Dog Play for more information about all of these events!

Have Dog Will Play Date!

_4141772.JPGDog parks have been around for a while now but the newest thing to do with your furry friend is a doggy play date, or play groups. These groups are like minded individuals and their dogs who get together to do activities together. Many of these groups have a common interest or common breed. This idea is great for a fur mom or dad to have like minded owners just like themselves to get information from, compete in activities with or to just plain have fun!

Dog Playgroups Meetups is a community that you can join that will show group members all over the world! You can start your own play group or meet and greet an already established group. The benefits of a common group reduce the risk of your pet getting injured or injuring another because a common bond becomes familiar to your pet when the same pets and people are introduced. They become a sort of “pack” for your pet! So get out and get moving!
